Alabama Symphony Orchestra

The Alabama Symphony Orchestra is a world recognized Alabama based orchestra. The origin of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra can be traced back to 1921. The Alabama Symphony Orchestra is noted for its sophisticated performances and satisfies the taste of classical music enthusiasts. The programs organized by the Alabama Symphony Orchestra are attended mostly by the creamy layer of the society.

The shows organized by the Alabama Symphony Orchestra for the months of September, October, November and December which you cannot miss are as follows:

  • 'Youthful Passion' conducted by Justin Brown on September 14 and September 15.
  • 'Titanic Mahler' conducted by Justin Brown on September 14.
  • 'Music from the Danube' conducted by Alexander Melnikov and Justin Brown on September 28 and September 29.
  • 'What is a 'Symphony' Anyway?' conducted by Justin Brown on October 4.
  • 'Laredo, Szasz and Mozart' conducted by Jaime Laredo and Daniel Szasz on October 12.
  • 'Fantastique' conducted by Christopher Confessore on October 26.
  • 'Tripping the Light Fantastic' conducted by Christopher Confessore and Charles Neidich on October 27.
  • 'Baroque with a Twist' conducted by Daniel Szasz, Andrew Miller and Brian Doyle on October 30.
  • 'Go for Baroque' conducted by Mayumi Masri, Daniel Szasz and Justin Brown on November 8.
  • 'The Six Brandenburg Concertos of J.S. Bach' conducted by Justin Brown on November 16.
  • 'New Year's Eve Concert' conducted by Justin Brown on December 31.

At present the Alabama Symphony Orchestra consists of 53 permanent musicians. Few of the important members of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra are as follows:

  • On violin: Daniel Szasz, Yuriko Yasuda, Troy Bast, Alexander Volobuev, Gerald Rosenbaum, Mayumi Masri and Karl Braaten.
  • On trumpet: Paul Jackson and John McElroy.

  • On clarinet: Judith Donaldson and Kathleen Costello.
  • On double-bass: Brian Doyle, Mark Wilson, Michael Bradt and David Mazanec.
