Little River Canyon National Preserve in Fort Payne

The Little River Canyon National Preserve in Fort Payne is located on a mountain near Fort Payne in Alabama and the DeSoto State Park. This National Preserve of United States is a popular tourist attraction spot in Alabama and has earned widespread recognition for its charismatic features like the forested upland, waterfalls, canyon rims, pools, sandstone cliffs, etc.

Moreover, the Little River Canyon National Preserve in Fort Payne provides myriad recreational activities like picnicking, fishing, hiking, camping and riding. The National Preserve in Fort Payne provides a scenic and panoramic view of the town below and it is easily accessible by means of curved yet convenient roads. Visitors, can also drive their way to the Little River Canyon National Preserve of Alabama. Most of the overlooks at the Little River Fall, Eberhart Point and the Canyon Mouth region have provisions for picnic tables and restrooms.

Although hunting is allowed in the Alabama National Preserve,the activity is restricted to a certain area, date and time. Hunting license of the state of Alabama or of any other state will also be needed. For ATV drivers, special personally procured permission is required from the office of the Superintendent in Fort Payne. Besides, tourists can also embark upon camping, horse riding and hiking at the spot. However, it is worth noting that camping is specifically not allowed in the back trails and while net fishing is not allowed, fishing in general requires license.

The Little river fall is located at a place from where it begins to move downwards into the canyon. Charges are not levied for touring this area. The 45 foot water fall is another remarkable attraction of this place.
